By all accounts, DARAK INDIE ANIFEST is the online presence for an annual, independent, animation festival based in South Korea. We say, “by all accounts”, because very little on the site is in English, and none of us here is fluent in Korean.
It’s Korean-ness may be precisely the reason to surf this site. The animation rendered from Macromedia’s Flash animation software is very different from American and Western European styles. Also, the stories in these movies are told visually well enough that understanding of the language is not required.
Curiously, there are enough examples of dark-humored cartoons and enough evidence of poorly translated English on the site to suggest that the title of this animation film festival was supposed to be “Darkfest”. No matter. It all translates to a compelling and repeat surfing site. Viewed on Macromedia Flash. Podcast available.
