You hear about it anytime a blockbuster movie flops. The bigtime Hollywood director will gripe about how “the studio decimated my vision.” So what happens? That same studio releases a special, “Director’s Cut” version on DVD.
In that same spirit, Randy Solem has built an amusing site called VIDEO GAME DIRECTOR’S CUT. Here, Solemn continues the tradition of video game parodies started by Clark Lybeck, creator of Nintendo Classics. Let’s be clear: Randy doesn’t make games. He plays them, and then he parodies them in short films produced in Flash animation.
His takes on tried and true video game stars like Mario are pretty amusing. VGDC has gotten popular enough that fans of the site have submitted their own director’s cuts, which Randy seems happy to display. Viewed on Macromedia Flash.
