Do you like sports videos? If so, then surf on over to www.Adidas.com and see what you’re missing. We’re paraphrasing Spike Lee’s character Mars Blackmon when we say it’s definitely NOT about the shoes.
Adidas.com is the marketing website for sports shoe and apparel conglomerate Adidas. The site has three conventional surfing areas onboard and two streaming media areas. The site is designed to get you, intrepid site surfer, to stop and purchase something thoroughly Adidas.
We say forget about buying anything. Grab your popcorn and your date, and surf right on over to the good stuff. Do not pass “go”. Go directly to the “ads” section of this website. Do it now before your boss strolls past your cubicle.
Just know this: if these are “ads”, then the Harry Potter books are “brochures”. Three offerings await you. Our favorite movie was “Adidas F50: the battle continues….” We loved it for its sheer visual madness. The plot revolves around a guy and a gal hoping to picnic on the edge of a neighborhood park. Meanwhile, in an adjoining hollow, young boys play soccer. We are not spoiling it for you when we say that Adidas.com manages to tie the entire history of human aggression convincingly into the ethos of a simple, pick-up soccer game. You use your imagination. The folks at Adidas.com certainly did.
We also enjoyed “Last Man Standing” quite a bit. Here, another group of boys take part in a manly man’s game of “Red Rover, Red Rover.” Check it out. And when ask yourself: Could you make it through those guys?
One big warning about Adidas.com: you better bring your broadband. This site is chock full of Flash animation and video footage. Enough content to choke a T-1 connection, actually. Our normal Internet pipeline is a high-end, high-speed broadband connection, and Adidas.com still managed to clog it completely in just a few minutes of streaming. As a result, we never got to see the “Martin Johnson, a Word from the Bench” clips. That bummed us out because a.) we don’t know who Martin Johnson is and b.) we wanted to find out who Martin Johnson is.
To sum up, Adidas.com is definitely a site worth forwarding, and re-surfing to repeatedly. It has got tons of content, is easy to navigate, and, check this out– Click on the icon of the world continents and choose your language. Everything is translated for you. And we do mean everything. Straight fives, that makes Adidas.com a “10”!
Finally, www.Adidas.com rates a cautious Brizos “E”, for everybody. Cautious because it’s important to remember that above all else, Adidas.com exists to sell you Adidas gear.
