Apparently, America’s major networks are drinking Apple’s kool-aid by the pitcher. Yet another has decided it’s a good business model to launch pilots via iPods. ABC has decided to put more of its content on Apple’s iTunes Music Store, debuting Kyle XY on the iTMS on June 20. The show is about “a mysterious teenage savant who is devoid of such human instinctive behavior as anger, joy and love, and the family who found him.” Uh huh. Don’t get me wrong. I’m not playa hatin’. The show may capture the hearts and minds of millions. And if ABC can do the same to ipodders each week, then the show will pay for itself, and then some.
Like any good pusher worth their salt, ABC will allow users to download the show’s first episode for free. However, once hooked, users must pay $1.99 to iTMS for all episodes, made available for download after June 27. Kyle XY will make its debut on ABC Family four days later. More things that make you go, “hmmm…”
