WheresGeorge.com, aka the United States Currency Locator Project, has been on the web since 1998. There was a time around the Fin du Siecle, when WheresGeorge was a hot media topic. Not so lately. I think that’s a shame because WheresGeorge is such a great site. Built for one purpose–track dollah bills, y’all, as they traverse the planet. It’s like classmates.com for money! For first time sitesurfers, simply surf on over to www.WheresGeorge.com, enter the circulation # of a piece of U.S. currency, then let WheresGeorge do the rest. Maybe information on where your bill has been will come back to you, or maybe the site will come up empty. Not to worry. Now that that bill’s number is entered, you can hand the money to someone else and have them surf to the site. Then if they pass it on to two friends and THEY pass it on to two friends, and so on and so on…Bam! You’ve started a chain reaction.
Teachers! Educators! Homeschoolers! Think of the myriad projects you can create just from this one website. That’s why I think it’s high time WheresGeorge got back into the spotlight.
Fortunately, for those cynical of you, another reason presents itself… Wait for it…
Presenting “The Tip Jar”, a short film about the circular nature of life, love and money, now available at www.wheresgeorge.com!
