CBS Floats an Innertube in the Broadband Pool

CBS Corp. dove into the broadband Web pool with Innertube, its video streaming channel. Surf to Innertube via CBS.com.  Try innertube.com and you’ll wind up at the Countrywide Tire & Rubber website (not that there’s anything wrong with that). Right now, Innertube is the perfect online complement to CBS, the television network. That’s because Innertube is chock full of CBS celebrity interviews, show clips and upcoming program teases. There are a handful of web-exclusive, original programs, but less than actually advertised at CBS.com.

In the future, Innertube will also stream content from such CBS-family members as King World, CBS Paramount Network Television and Showtime. It may also become the re-launch pad for those “weren’t-ready-for-primetime” shows were yanked before they could last a whole season.  Also expect to see future on-air shows land here that could only muster a cult following.

Innertube is a free, ad-supported broadband channel. It is built on a Macromedia/Adobe Flash platform, and you will watch commercials. Innertube also streams using Real Player software. The player is not as robust as other mainstream sites out there. Expect it to load slowly and occasionally drop video.
