Lauren Elizabeth Orton

Every once in a while, I surf upon a simple, little website, whose great fortune I have in its revelation is dwarfed only by the admiration that it inspires in me. This is one of those sites. Uncluttered, elegant, mischievous, this is a tribute site to the late Lauren Elizabeth Orton.

Lauren died on April 27, 2003 in a whitewater rafting accident. Only 32 years-old at her untimely death, Lauren was doing the thing that she did best–living life.

This website was built by her husband Mark Orton. Within the many webpages on her tribute site, one discovers the breadth and depth of her myriad talents. We also discover the amount of love she bestowed upon the world and was bestowed upon her by her family and friends. It’s been said that in a digital world, nothing exists unless it exists in two places. Nothing could be more true about Lauren Orton. While gone in body, she definitely still exists–once here, and twice in the minds of all us fortunate souls who surf her site.

On a Sitesurfin’ scale, this tribute to Lauren rates an “E” for everybody. Right now the only streaming media on the site are 3 songs composed by Lauren. They stream in Windows Media Player or in Real. Videos are scheduled for later.
Thank you Mark, for the website, and thank you Lauren Orton for your life.
