Talk About Your “Festival of Lights”!

The Lindsay Brothers of Ontario, Canada seemed like typical geeky boys growing up. They lived at home until maturity, excelled in nerdy subjects in school and hung christmas lights on their parents’ pine trees.Something happened to them around the turn of the century, though. No one knows if it was the dreaded “Fin de Siecle” or if it was Millennium Fever or if it was simply too much “partying like it’s 1999″.  All that is certain is that in the year 2000, Martin and Andrew Lindsay unleashed a holiday lighting blitzkrieg upon their parents’ yard.  It’s a tradition of a lighting spectacle that continues every December.

Don’t believe me? Surf on over to LindsayLights and see what you’re missing.

Now every neighborhood this side of Bethlehem has that one guy bound and determined to make his family abode visible from Space. Imagine that house, amplified by an order of magnitude, and then synch up the lights to music. That’s the Lindsay house. Now do you believe me when I say that I betcha astronauts can see the little house at 4 Rosea Court from the International Space Station? Now do you believe me when I say it’s unlike any light show you’ve ever seen? Now do you believe me when I say you probably cannot wait for them to move in next door to you?

Not to worry. These boys’ mama done raised them right. The music to which the lights are synchronized is only audible on a discrete FM frequency. So bring your car or bring your transistor radio. (Oops. Did I just date myself?) Actually, the best idea of all is to stream this bad boy over the ‘net. Like so many sporting events, it’s better to stream the light show video than it is to be there live. With Slobodan Uzelac’s excellent directing and editing, you get to see aspects of the light show you might otherwise miss standing directly in front of it.

Other great vids on LindsayLights.com include past holiday light show footage, video articles of the festival of lights by local Canadian television stations, and a fast-paced “making of” video too.

Great family fun for all, LindsayLights rates a .com Dish! sitesurfin’ “E” for everybody; especially for that guy in your neighborhood.
