Don’t Make Her Cry!

Sometimes, as in real world surfing, site surfing is just about paddling out into the World Wide Web and waiting for a beauty moment to occur. This morning, I found one in Don’tMakeHerCry, an ingenious QuickTime-based, online game created by Richard Blakely and Elizabeth Dresner. If you are a man in a relationship, you must master this game.

As any airline pilot will tell you, it is much better to crash and burn while practicing emergency maneuvers flying in a simulator than it is to crash and burn in real life dealing with an actual emergency. Think of Don’tMakeHerCry as a simulation for real life relationship situations.

The game premise is apparently based on a quote attributed to Mark Twain, who is purported to have said that every man is an idiot at least 15 minutes once a day.  Don’tMakeHerCry offers a simulation of typical choices men have to make throughout a typical day.  Pick correctly, life is good. Pick poorly, life gets very bad, very quickly. Choose wisely, Grasshopper.

Men, I suggest you play this game each morning. Think of it as emotional calisthenics. It will increase your emotional flexibility, improve your core maturity and strengthen your resolve to think before you act, well, like an idiot.

(Pssst–I haven’t shown this site to my wife yet. I don’t want to give away all my good relationship skill secrets! I suggest you keep it on the down-low, too.) but get thee over to Don’tMakeHerCry…and learn how to be a hero.
