Chris Cole wrote a great article detailing the strategic launch of multiple medical websites contending to knock WebMD off its throne. Even more intriguing than the actual websites are the players involved in the websites.
To wit: Revolution Health backers Steve Case (founder AOL); Colin Powell (Secretary of State, 43); Carly Fiorina (disgraced past Chairman of the Board, Hewlett Packard); Jim Barksdale (ex President & CEO Netscape); and Frank Raines (embattled former CEO, Fannie Mae). Should Revolution Health take off, it will be proof positive that one need not be an expert in their field to create a successful website. It may also mean one may need a heavy Rolodex, er, sorry, Blackberry.
