The reality TV maven has proposed a MySpace-based political contest called Independent, where users will submit videos to become “candidates” and then will “run” against one another in the leadup to the 2008 presidential election.
The show would use potential contestants’ initial videos to narrow the field to about 100 “candidates,” who would then create MySpace profiles to double as their campaign platforms. As the field is narrowed down, the show would move onto network television, with contestants required to participate in “town hall” meetings. The winner will receive $1 million, which they would then have to donate to a worthy cause.
